Is there anything wrong with using a small pistol magnum primer in place of a small pistol primer?

I load magnum rounds, but not nearly as many as regular rounds. So I was thinking is it possible to use a magnum primer in a regular load (.357 only) if I were to back off the charge a couple of grains?

I accidentally bought 1000 magnum primers thinking they were regular primers.

Read the boxes closely guys!!! Don't do what I did! A $45.00 mistake (they are match primers)

Use the search feature.

I believe consensus is that they can be used, but you need to basically start over with your recipie, back to the start level and work your way up.

Don't use your currently developed load without reducing and working your way up, just to be safe.

If you are using a mid power load you can safely switch primers. I've done it with a couple of mid power loads in my .357 and .44 loads. There is not a pressure issue in my loads because these are only mid power loads. Anywhere near maximum loads you definitely want to back off 10% on the charge.
