I am confused.

I finally picked up an upper barrel group to go with a lower I bought in 08. I wanted to do something besides plain old black this time. I have seen a couple of guns with a light tan/brown Magpull furniture, both in person and in pics, and thought I would go that route.

I ordered some Flat Dark Earth furniture, but when the handguard and grip came in they are fairly dark with a green tint. In the color sample at Midway and other places I see the light tan/brown I was expecting. Did they put the wrong color parts in the right FDE marked boxes? I had to order the stock from another place, since most folks are out of stock, and have not received it yet. I am curious to see what it looks like. It will be here Monday.

What color is FDE?

What colors are these four grips in this pic from Henderson Defense Industries website? I'm confused.

Starting from the bottom moving clockwise its fde, black, foliage green, and olive drab. Does the one you have look like one of the 4 or something else altogether? I'm sure a mix up could have happened either at Magpul or whomever you ordered it from.

Mine looks more like the Foliage Green at the top. The Grip and Handguard both came in boxes marked FDE, but both look like Foliage Green.

It will be very interesting to see the color of the Stock when it arrives.

So uh, not to make it simple or anything - perhaps they sent you the wrong parts in the correct boxes?

I've gotten 30mm rings a few times I order 1" rings.

Poop happens.

I got some Foliage Pmags a while back, i ordered OD and the plastic said OD.

As long as you buy from a reputable seller, they'll swap them out for you.

I actually like the different colors....i know what's loaded in the mag...i keep varmint rounds in the foliage mags in case Wile E. is relieving himself on my lawn. For furniture though, my AR's are Frankenstein enough.

Hmmm?

Maybe the MagPul packaging department guy is color blind?
Or not motivated enough?

The stock came today, and it is the same light greenish color. So I am still confused. Oh well, all the furniture looks OK on the rifle, and it stands out from my other two, which was the main intention. I'll have to take a pic soon.

the AR on top has Flat Dark Earth furniture and the bottom AR has Black. Mine don't have a "green" tint.

Yeah... that looks foliage green to me.
My furniture came with my mid-length from PSA and there's no question it's FDE.

I ordered an FDE stock from magpul and it was the brownish green you are describing. Unfortunately I think that is the only color you are going to get if you ask Magpul for FDE. Colors called FDE vary widely among manufacturers. I got an engage grip that looked more like pinkish tan. looked like a big ol uknowwhat hangin down there.

Pinkish tan I could believe & go with.
Forest Green I can't.

I do believe I'd call MagPul and ask them what color Flat Dark Earth means to them?

Forest green would do you little good in Iraq, or any of the Sandakistan countries I betcha!

BTW: Walkalong, your rifle looks great.
But I don't think it is what you had in mind when you ordered it, is it?

Walkalong - if you can, photograph your magpul stuff against a military camo background (either woodland or ACU). That will make it really clear what you actually got. Based on your photo I think you got Magpul's FDE. It can have a greenish cast, and like others said there is no standard for FDE. Magpul foliage is a very light minty green, and their OD is very dark. The other color they make is "UDE" but only Larue is supposed to have it, and it's basically gray.

Thanks. A permanent red dot setup, a BUIS, and a sling and I'll be good to go.
But I don't think it is what you had in mind when you ordered it, is it?
No, not what I had in mind, but I like it well enough. I do not expect to be going to Iran, or anywhere else full of sand, and the color should do well in the Alabama woods, should I ever need it, but hopefully the real need for camouflage will never come up.

I am still curious, and very well may call Magpul. I have seen Magpul stuff in person that looks like tan, so I am still confused. :)

The color shades well be different with different manufacturers, and sometime different batch to batch. There is no industry standard on color names. Another issue is the color you see on your CRT well be different from reality and well be different on other CRT's.

You have FDE.

You also have matching colors for everything you got.

Good looking setup, btw.
