Magpul G17 mags

I think Magpul is a great company making great products, but I'm not sure I see a real need for this. There are lots of weapons out there with room for improvement in terms of the magazine, but I've never seen or heard of many problems with OEM Glock mags. I guess just because it's cheaper?

Yeah I have never heard of hardly any problems from Glock Magazines, but at $10-$15 less than regular Glock Magazines, it would definitely be something to look into. I hope that Magpul ventures into many pistol magazines to bring down magazine prices.

It would seem the price is the main selling point. If they actually work as well as OEM for like 60% the cost, that would be pretty cool.

Magpul has a pretty good rep for their products working.

if they could make it in a way that it can be adapted to 40/357 with the same mag (maybe a different follower??) then it would be a real show stopper.

I wish Magpul would make a Mini-14 mag. Pretty much anything not Ruger for a Mini-14 mag sucks. Promag, National Mag, Tapco, etc., all suck.

Cool...

I watched Magpul's clever Glock pistol magazine video.
I like the Adult Swim like promo production values.
I own a Glock 21 gen 04 .45acp & 3 factory 13rd mags.
I'm not quite sure how or what MagPul is really offering over Glocks but the designs looks good I guess.
I added a few safety orange color base pads to my .45acp mags but the regular factory mags work fine.
Glock now sends pistols with 3 magazines too so unless you are a 3-gunner or need a bunch of extra pistol magazines I don't know how MagPuls would help.

The Korean g17 mags have worked flawless for me. Albeit I replaced the springs with lwd.

Yep. $16 versus the $25+ Glock mags go for these days. There's your need.

Assuming Magpul makes them as reliable as Glock mags, that is.

But that remains to be seen, after they are still working like steel lined Glock mags after 20 years or so.

Me too, and I'd say that's their competition. If you're already buying non-OEM, it's all about what works, and the KCI mags have never let me down. Just out of being overly cautious I'd probably only carry the OEM mags, but I don't carry the Glock. I've shot my Glock on the range a lot must mixing the mags without issue.

With the Korean mags already at around $10-12 I don't think Magpul is going to do that well on price alone.

That kind of pathetic savings isnt worth the risk IMO. Glock OEM are arguably the best magazines in gundom.
Be different if they were 60 bucks etc... Not when the price separation is the equivalent to a meal deal at the local fat food establishment.

It can add up pretty quick, for a high volume shooter. If they're reliable and durable, they will move metric tons of these. I have over a dozen mags for one Glock. That would be like $120 in savings.

LOL, what risk? I don't trust any mag I haven't used before. Worst mags I have ever used were factory Colt 1911 mags. And after shooting hundreds of rounds through my range mags, flawlessly, I DO trust them. Even if they say KCI on the bottom, let alone Magpul or Mecgar.

I can see picking up a couple of these and see how they run in competition. A good alternative to the factory would be nice and I have never had any problem with Magpul products.

Why make them? Huge market base, probably one of the most common weapons out there (9mm glocks). If you can undercut other folks, you'll sell a ton of them. No other reason needed.

Also I'd definitely pick some up and try them out. If they run well, I'll add them to my stash of mags.

If they work, there is no risk. Magpul isn't typically known for putting out crappy products.

I don't know about you, but $10 in my pocket is a good thing if the quality is equal to factory mags.
