Main spring pedersoli

Well my main spring broke on my Penn. 45cal. Does anyone have one laying around? The cheapest one on line is $40 plus shipping. I bet someone knows a site that is cheaper. But, then for a Pedersoli I believe that is about right.....

Well I just ordered the spring and 2 nipples from VTI. The spring was $41 and the nipples are $4 for one. With shipping the total was $57.95. That is not to bad. When you need something the cost is worth it...............

I never put a main spring in none of my rifles or pistols. What is the best way to put it back in? Is there a special tool?
I need some help.........

Mainspring Vise

You might give Dixie Gun Works (www.dixiegunworks.com) or Muzzleloader Builders Supply (www.muzzleloaderssupply.com) a try. They both stock springs as well as spring stock from which a spring can be made.

Be careful using vise grips on a mainspring. If you scratch the spring it can act as a stress riser that will lead to the spring breaking.
