Just wondering if anyone knows about the following and where I can find info on it (yes tried to google it up, no luck) .

In another forum , someone mentioned that our state supreme court held that the constitution’s RKBA clause was collective in nature . But 2 years later , the people voted to amend the constitution to the following :

Section 16. To keep and bear arms. Every citizen has a right to keep and bear arms and this right shall never be questioned.

I just never heard of this and wonder if anyone else had and where I might find info on it .

Ok , using my google fu I was able to find that in 1987 a vote was put before the people regarding their RKBA . Not much forinfo except the following .

"Shall the Consitution of Maine be amended to clarify the rights of citizens to keep and bear arms?" 216,013 Yes 159,226 No

At least the PEOPLE were able to make their voices heard .

I'm happy that Maine's Constitution was changed by the will of the people.
Yet it still seems amazing that over 159,000 people voted against the God given right to self defense.Thats almost 43 percent of the total vote!

note my sig. line...

If you could let global warming selectively raise the ocean level to wash Portland into the sea, Maine would be uniformly a wonderful place to live.

For reference , this is what it DID say :

Sec. 16. Every citizen has a right to keep and bear arms for the com-
mon defence; and this right shall never be questioned.

Compared to what it says now :

Section 16. To keep and bear arms. Every citizen has a right to keep and bear arms and this right shall never be questioned.

And SSN Vet , I completely agree about Portland as long as they keep letting the socialists run the city .

You could probably include Falmouth Foreside... OK, MOST of Falmouth, Yarmouth, and definately ALL of Cumberland and Cape Elizabeth in that too.

That's why I moved back to "The County."

Presque Isle

Lol , yeah , that's a bit outta the way .

Lewsiton/Auburn can be iffy to . Lewiston is where I originally got my concealed permit and it took 3 months! I moved back to my home town and turn around time is 2-3 weeks and the chief will sign off for NFA stuff without batting an eye.

HEY, HEY, HEY, guys there are some of us good guys in Falmouth, and Yarmouth. Take everything south and let it slide into the ocean. Take Augusta and let it slide into the Kennebec.
