I tried to take down the pistol with the hammer down but the main sprint housing would not come down so I abolished the effort. Now the pistol will not fire and the mag fits real tight.

EMPTY CHAMBER AND EMPTY MAGAZINES...

Put mag in gun, pull trigger, remove magazine. Then proceed to pull the MSH out.

I found out that trying to remove the MSH with the magazine in there doesn't happen:uhoh:

Eliminating the magazine disconnect is one way I found to bypass a lot of disassemble and reassembly headaches. Good idea to remove the LCI a well.

My Ruger MKIII 22/45 is a very reliable and accurate pistol which I love shooting.

BUT, it is the only handgun I own that before I strip it for cleaning I get out the owners manual and follow the steps straight from the book.

I always get it done with a minimum of fuss and bother but you have to follow the proper sequence of mag in - mag out, pulling trigger, hammer forward, hammer back, etc.

I'd recommend that the next time you go to clean that gun you better get the book out also.

I second removing the mag disconnect and Loaded Chamber Indicator. Both can be done relatively easily by the user. There are also "plugs" available to replace the LCI so there is no hole in the upper receiver.

I guess these things were put in place so Ruger could sell the guns in California, but I still think they should have kept producing the MK II for others that don't want that needless stuff.
