I had a Bulgarian Makarov that every time I carried it rust would form on the slide and frame on the left side which is against my skin, (its hot in Texas).
So I sanded the slide and frame after I took it apart then put GunKote* on it. Looks good

Did you do anything to the sights to make them easier to pick up?

No! that is the only part I couldn't get off, it must be staked or rusted in. I think some day I will have as et of good sights put on.
