I actually didn't find much unmanageable about my kit. I could reach everything pretty easily. Not saying it wasn't darned HEAVY, but it was pretty balanced and not really uncomfortable to move in.

That was heavy? Try adding body armor and a 3 liter Camelback.

Did you ride your bike out there or did your mom drop you off?

bwwwwwaaaaahaahahahahahaahaaaaaaahahahahahaah. heh. Sorry, couldn't resist.

Ughh... Hate it when people put on fatigues just for fun or a photo op.

Just out of curiosity, do you hate it when people collect antiques, or fix up old cars, or wear jerseys and paint their faces when they go see their favorite team play? What about Cowboy Action shooters or Civil War reenactors?

They're called hobbies. They're what people do for fun. And I don't personally give a damn what someone's hobby is if they're not breaking the law or hurting someone. If someone wants to buy military gear and wear it while shooting, it's no different than wearing a "Datsyuk" jersey to a Red Wings game. I try not to get bent out of shape because someone has fun in a different way than me.

But seriously, I refrain from poking fun at the whole mall ninja thing, unless it's obviously terribly inferior gear. Then I'll poke fun at the gear.

I do find it strange that people talk about how much ammo they have stashed and how many mags they have for their rifle, yet as soon as someone puts on a vest with mag pouches it's labeled mall ninja.

Actually I just find it disrepectful to those who HAVE to put on a uniform and run around and shoot in the desert. That's all. Reenactors are fine since they are preserving history and actually showing respect.

What if he'd just picked up a MOLLE vest, mag pouches, Camelback, etc. at the flea market or surplus store and was practicing with them to see if the kit setup worked for him and to practice mag changes and such while wearing comfy boots, jeans, and a t-shirt? Would that even be mall ninja? Do you have to wear black or cammo to be mall ninja?

Well as a SPC in the US Army myself, I don't find it even slightly disrespectful. But that's just me I guess.

you're right wearing knock off digi camies with no EGA's or name tapes is horribly disrespectful...

ive heard imitation is the sincerest form of flattery..

And that is your opinion, as a SSgt in U.S. Air Force I find it it disrespectful. Not to the point that it is a big deal just to where I think to myself "what an idiot". That's it no big deal, just my personal opinion on the matter. Let's not make it something it is not.

The thing is, whether the OP likes it or not, he is representing all of us. And by us I mean the pro-gun community.

I understand no one is being hurt, and it's a level of fun for some. Just be careful when/where/how you present it.

Personally, I'd much rather see this as a front page news story, about someone who went out and had a blast at the range, no injury, no harm to others. A wonderful experience. Much more preferred to another idiot involving a gun that demands more gun control.

Props to you for having a good time. Stay safe.

I think its a fine balance between doing what I believe is ones responsibility as a gun owner and part of the "Milita" and being a wanna be. I'm old and in another 10 yrs or so won't even qualify as "Milita" but one needs to know if his equipment is even feasible.

Having a one son who is 19D in the sand box and another who has a nomination to the USAFA, reading and seeing guys that fall into my perception of the wannabe kinda rubs me wrong.

On the other hand I find desert or woodland camo to serve well hunting boon docking and a good deal of well proven equipment is coming out of the current wars so like I said its all a matter of perception.

BTW is that hair coming out of the back of your helmet?? you kinda look like predator! only his guns were a little cooler.

Also curious how much you paid for what looks like an old school Kevlar helmet. And is it just me, or is that the Marine version of the Army Combat Shirt that's designed for wearing under body armor? Those things are going for around $70 these days, if I'm not badly mistaken.

So is it disrespectful when kids play army too?

Get over yourself. It may be a little ridiculous, I think it's kind of funny, but no worse than, as another guy said, people wearing their team jersey and painting their face.

Is it disrespectful when the MPs at the base gate wear BDUs? They certainly aren't trying to blend into anything, they are really just wearing that because it's tacticool, if you think about it.

Personally I think the real heroes are the patriots who collect guns and shoot them and are ready to deal with a government that gets out of control (the real reason our founding fathers gave us the right to have and use guns). I think it's disrespectful when an army guy thinks that the military has some sort of monopoly on a certain type of dress that is used for a tactical advantage. What's next, shooting guns is disrespectful to the military guys that have to go out into the desert and shoot them?

I agree with you but that is kind of a poor analogy...MP's dont really have a choice what they wear while on duty

Chaoss, stop trying to instigate read post number 34 and stop trolling. By the way MPs HAVE to put on their uniform you think we get up in the morning and say "instead of wearing jeans and a t-shirt at the base gate today I will put on my uniform". I mean really your example is moronic.(is that even a word) LETS NOT MAKE IT SOMETHING IT IS NOT.
