Hello Everyone,

I have watched Man On Fire several times, however this time I *thought* I seen a mess up. However I don't have the movie, and I don't have a Tivo/DVR. I was wondering if anyone here could help.

Near the very end of the movie when John Creasy (Denzel Washington) is walking on the bridge and Daniel Sanchez is to deliver Pita (Dakota Fanning). There is a quick scene in there somewhere, where it looks like one of Daniels men is holding an AR15 type of weapon, however this weapon looked to have had an blaze orange muzzle break on it. (Like those on Airsoft Guns)

Like I said I *Thought* I seen that, I wasn't paying too much attention, but I thought I saw something orange at the end of that rifle.

Let me know if I am seeing things!!

It's been awhile since I've seen this movie, but doesn't Creasy cock the hammer on his Glock when he's interrogating the gangster?

I think the famous boo-boo in that movie is the scene where a GLOCK pistol, with one round in the chamber and no magazine inserted, is fired and the slide locks back. Perhaps there was a deleted scene following that where a gun-savvy character picks up the pistol and says "Yep, I thought so, this gun has a defective or improperly installed slide stop lever."

Interesting case - even non-gunnies can spot certain types of errors - endless magazines and cylinders, people being excessively blown back when hit, superfluous cockings and rackings, etc., but this is a fairly subtle technical error that would probably go completely over the head of someone who was not somewhat personally familiar with pistols, although you'd think the armorer would have caught it.

The way they shoot movies nowadays, some directors shoot miles of film doing endless takes, then they cut it all together using cherry picked takes. Often they stuff doesn't match up well regarding continuity, drinks are different levels, cigarettes are different lengths, etc. That's why I hate most newer movies.

in the case of the slide lock, it may have been done purposefully to satisfy self proclaimed "experts." everyone who's played counterstrike or watched a segal movie "knows" that a pistol locks open on the last round, right?

Default -- I think the worse boo boo was when Creasy tries to off himself, ejects the round which misfires, and examines the ROUND hammer strike on the squib. Glock hammerstrikes are rectangular from the striker... no firing pin.

That said, I love the movie...

If the round doesn't fire, the mark is round.

The rectangular mark is caused by the primer expanding into the firing pin hole in the breech face. If the round doesn't fire, there is no chamber presure to cause this to happen

sorry, that's just not true. i might have gone along with that but i had a weak primer at the range less than a week ago. the striker left a rectangular mark on the primer. remember that glock's striker is rectangular and, though tapered, it tapers quickly enough to make the rectangular cross section easily apparent in the primer strike.

Too bad that all the book and the movie have in common is the title.

Kind of like The Killer Elite... and EVERY James Bond movie. Of course in the latter case, that's a GOOD thing, since Ian Fleming was a DREADFUL writer.

Hmm. Must be the aftermarket striker on mine. It's rectangular but rounded. Given, the marks aren'tcircular, but definately round.

It was the same in old movies.

BTW, the version with Washington was a remake. Scott Glen stared in the original.

Good catch, Mongo. The reason I didn't mention the primer strike was er, because, um, I was testing you. :D
