I got a new pistol last week - a Beretta PX4 - and I also ordered a Mantis Laser Academy from Amazon, and it seem very cool.
The idea is that there is a laser cartridge in the gun - when the firing pin hits, the laser fires. There is an app that uses your phone's camera to record and score shots. Optionally, it makes a sound like a round being fired, and announces the score.
The combination of the sound of the shot and the red of the laser flashing make dry firing very much fun. I "shot" 50 rounds in 10 minutes or so, and it was a hoot.
It's obviously not going to train for recoil, etc, - but act far as trigger control and point of aim, it should be a big help.
With various things going on in my life right now, I can only get to the range once a week for an hour or so - about 150-200 rounds,
A lot of fun to boot.
