men dont fight a war for a nation, an idea, or even whats "right". they fight it for the guy next to him, so that that guy can make it back home.

Three cheers for this Marine.

And a hearty thank you to his family for bringing such a brave young man
into the world and teaching him values.

The Cpl's action was not of bravery or national pride but of unadulterated love for his fellow man. It was brave, and I take pride that a fellow fighting man demonstrated such bravery. In my heart though, I know that none of these were in his mind when he dove on the grenade. All he could think was that someone was trying to kill the men he loved and he would be damned if he would let that happen.

I read that he was being considered for the MoH quite a while ago, and had wondered if he had recieved it. With mixed emotions, I can say that it is delightful to find out that he did.

If you ever feel like crying, I suggest reading the citations that some of these Medal of Honor "winners" have. The sheer amount of courage and bravery that these fellows display is so incredible as to be almost mythical. If you aren't deeply moved to the point of tears after reading some of the things these men did, well, I don't know what kind of man you are.
