I will be getting a Mark III... err 22/45 for 125$ * new* in a couple of days... I've been thinking about removing the magizine disconnect. I've got the basic idea. My question is could I use this ( see link)bushing to fill the gap from the missing disconnect. one of the reviews on the website says it will work but I would like a answer from someone that has done it on here if at all possible.

Any MK II hammer bushing will work, and while you have it apart you may as well install a Volquartsen sear and trigger and remove the loaded chamber indicator. Then you will have something with a beautiful trigger that is reliable as a MK II and you will find the mags insert and drop free properly.

Lawyers are not helpful in firearms design.
 
I agree with leaving it as is. You will be impressed with it. That being said, first time you take it apart, have some youtube videos ready to learn how to put it back together...
 
Replacing the disconnect with a bushing is cheap and easy to do---thats all I did with mine and the trigger is just fine without a bunch of new and costly parts.

With the LCI --I just pulled out the metal piece that interfers with the cartridge and then put the plastic piece back in to fill the hole in the receiver---eventually I'll get a better filler piece but for now it works just fine.

Works just fine in my MkIII pistol----I would think the 22/45 is the same way.
 
The MK3 will work fine and be impressive without modification. The Ruger MK3 is my only .22lr pistol that has never had a single jam or failure of any kind. It is also my most heavily used .22lr pistol, which is saying alot. I go through several thousand rimfire rounds per month.
 
YMMV but Ruger Mk pistols have been manufactured for tens of years with out the Mag disconnect. If you would like to try the gun that way the bushings listed will work. ( I left the loaded chamber indicator intact on my 22/45. ) The modification will make field stripping much easier. The mags will also drop free. Save the take off parts if you change anything so they can be reinstalled if a trip to Ruger is necessary.

You may have a slight liability window that way, if someone picked it up and assumed from past experience that it must be unloaded. (They are ALWAYS loaded!) I took mine out and can look in to see if there is a cartridge in it.

Mag safety, gone! Hammer lock, gone! My trigger is about as light as it can be and still fire. I like the mag release much much better than at the heel, too bad they improved the gun and then added a bunch of lawyer garbage.
 
I did it on mine. I used Sam Lam's bushing. Works great. Glad I did it. There are a lot of youtube videos out there. Watch a few first. The first pin you remove actually has a spring wire retaining it, so you need to hold it out of the way to drive the pin out. Once you take the barrel off you can see it. Don't just beat it out of there. It's pretty easy, just take your time.
 
Ain't no way I'd leave "as is"... A 25 buck VQ sear will take the trigger pull from just ok to pretty darn sweet.
 
I replaced my magazine disconnect with 3 washers from the hardware store. Just measured the width with calipers, then went to the store and found a combination of washers that stacked up. The bushing doesn't really do anything to the trigger pull. The Voltsquartsen sear and hammer are where you will get the major gains in trigger break.
 
Get a Mark III bushing from Sam Lam and remove that magazine disconnect. You can find his contact info over on rimfirecentral.com. He makes them specifically for the Mark III, and it will remove a bit of slop from the trigger and make disassembly much easier (not that it's that difficult to begin with if you follow the directions in the manual).

I agree that removing the mag disconnect is a good choice. I used a Sam Lam bushing. The mag will drop out without pulling it and it makes field stripping/reassembly simpler.
If you don't like the pretravel, get a Volquartsen trigger and if the pull is too heavy for you, get the sear too. VQ also makes a Mark 2 that will do the same at a higher price since it has the Mark II hammer included.

My MKIII has the Sam Lam bushing, VQ full trigger kit, VQ extractor, VQ Volthane grips, Ultradot.
