Market for iron sited bolt guns/quasi-military design?

How's about a modern day FR8? Fully updated with all of the modern advances in metallury, of course. The only real change I would make is to modify it to utilize Cetme/G3 mags. THAT, would be a fun little weapon.

Actually, apart from the silly sights that looks good. I can't imagine why you would elevate the sights and shorten the sighting radius apart from trying to sell it to AK freaks. The only two weak points of the design as far as I'm concerned. Rather than the thumbhole I think a steep pistol grip without the thumbhole, but with a deep cut for the thumb behind the pistol grip would allow much faster operation of the bolt. You wouldn't have to disengage your thumb from the hole each time.

You could replace the stock bolt with (or add) two small bolts going through the action. This is an accurising trick done by target shooters in days gone by. I gotta get me a bubba and a block of laminate and a file and try this. I have a minty barrel for a No4 in the safe. :D

The one in the pic is a 7.62 by the look of it as that is a Sterling magazine.

The sites wil be much lower...

that is a photoshopped weapon, bud, I believe, just for demonstration purposes.

I'll post a picture of a working prototype once the suits allow me to spend $$ and take machinists off-line from other prods.

OP

The rifle pictured above is not photoshopped. It is an Australian made synthetic stock on a no.4 rifle chambered for .308 - purpose of the m16 sights was to give the feel of AR for the shooter to pratice with in a place where ARs are frowned upon but where enfields are still around.

so yute who made that stock? Are there anymore available?it looks the goods thats for sure.

thanks for that link yute.ive got a little project that requires a stock such as this.cheers

I had pretty close to this same idea recently only make it in .223 and make it accept AR mags. I think it is cool that someone is actually going somewhere with something like this.

My Dream Carbine:

Receiver: Sig Sauer 202 (Permits interchanging barrels of like-length, i.e.):
308-length
30-06 length
7mmMag length
375 H&H length

Bolt: Retain current 6-lug bolt of 202

Magazine: 5, 10, 15 and 20 round from M1A

Stock: 6-position stock from AR-15
