I saw one on a used rack at Cabela's last year.
Ammo is available from places like Buffalo Arms or The Old Western Scrounger. Expect to pay about $50 for 20rds.
Load wise it's a 200-240 gr. bullet at about 1,900-2,100 fps. Sort of like a .40 caliber version of the .30 Carbine.

Used to work at a Library and inspected scanned images of old court cases, I found an envelope with advertisements for several Winchester guns and the envelope was post marked some time in the 1890's I saved the image, will have to dig it up sometime.

In most gun rags, the review is just an expanded add, for company that faithfully buys full page color adds every month. Since every review, on every gun and product, is so new and modern and works like a champ, how come there are so many gun owners fussing about this being junk, and that jamming and i'll never by a bang bang brand automatic again

Were we endicrinologically balanced, the appropriate level of progesterone/estrogen would allow us to make more effective, rational decisions about life and how we spend our money.
Of course, guns, cars, and wars would be instantly eliminated as a source of difficulty, and human technological progress would be set back an millenium. Most of the research on stuff has also brought about cheaper fertilizers that result in millions more being fed, transportation systems to get food to them, and increased survival rates due to superior shelter.

I've seen deer poorly shot with 8mm Magnum and I have to say, there may be something to it. Right through the hindquarters, and DRT. I don't think Remington bragged on it, tho.
No problem, it just kicks a bit more, nothing for a real man to even consider. Grab a half dozen boxes on a nice afternoon and scope it in at your private range. The Mrs. will have Sunday dinner on in time when you get home for the rest of the paper and a good pipe smoke while the kids do their homework or quietly play a boardgame.

In a mild defense of Weatherby: Back in the 1950s or thereabouts, Roy did an African trip. One of his toys was a .257 Wby. He shot an eland and for whatever reason hit it crosswise through the hams. From the photo, the exit wound was conical, maybe six inches across. Dropped at the shot, of course, with both rear legs out of action. Rapid bleed-out, probably from the femoral artery. IOW, that ad wasn't all that far off the mark.

I actually think it has gotten worse. The claims might not be quite so outrageous but all of the factories are pumping out newer, hotter, better guns every year. Well, they might not be newer, hotter or better (most everything has been done before) but that's what they say to get us nuts out there opening our wallets.
