Can the revolver calibre version of this rifle be treated like a handgun out of the box? ie. Do I just need to clean the factory grease from the barrel, and then start shooting?

Or does it need breaking in, with cleaning after every shot up to a certain number of rounds, like other center fire rifle barrels?

I'm talking about the 357/38 sp version only, and because I live in Peru, I'd only be shooting 38 sp out of it. Magnum rounds are unavailable for civilians here.

I'd appreciate your advice.

To date I've never bothered to break in any barrel on any rifle and I've never noticed any detrimental effects. It's somewhat contraversial if there really needs to be a break in. On my Marlin 336, I probably shot about 300 rounds (the Hornady Leverevolution copper jacketed bullets) through it right out of the box and then cleaned. it. All looked fine. At times I've gotten 2 MOA (1" at 50 yards) with a low power scope on it from this lever action. That starts to approach my limits and likely the limit of the rifle.
