Since the original thread seemingly is not able to be retitled I'll grab it and
pose a question for the knowledgeable and not have it lost in page 6 or 7
of look at my gun....

Being a new owner of a Marlin 1894 chambered in
.45 Colt, I decided to do something novel - check the
literature provided by Marlin i.e RTFM

All this talk about the .357 Mag/.38 Spcl. where some owners have no problem and some do have a problem....
.
Anybody read the literature from Marlin that comes with the rifle?
.
Marlin Manual INfo.
Reccomended Ammunition O.AL. range
If chambered for: .
There's a paragraph for
.
.44 Magnum /.44 Special Parameters
Minimum Length: 1.535 inches
Maximum Length: 1.610 inches
. for factory Ammo except for waddcutters and shotshells
.
.and it repeats in a paragraph for
.357 Magnum/.38 Special Parameters
. Minimum Length: 1.400 inches
. Maximum Length: 1.590 inches
. factory ammo except for wadcutters and shot shells
the next paragraph is for
.38 Special Parameters
Minimum Length: 1.275 inches
Maximum Length: 1.550 inches
. factory ammo except for wadcutters and shot shells
.
but NO PARAGRAPH for
.45 Colt
Minimum Length: ?
Maximum Length: ?

Don't those lengths listed for the .38 Spcl. seem like
the .45 COlt parameters any of you reloaders?the
.
I put in the ? since I have a new 1894
chambered in .45 Colt. Perhaps the last paragraph is
a Brain pharte/mis-print because teh .45 Colt is a
recent offering? The next section goes into
the proper operation of the cross bolt safety.

Marlin does warn about the use of jacketed ammo that is
pointed as it may cause a 'chainfire' in the tubular magazine.
IF uncertain they say to contact the ammunition or
bullet manufacturer. Marlin also warns against using
aluminum cased ammunition.
