I saw a stainless Marlin 1894 in 44mag for sale that caught my eye. I don't know much about lever guns so any information will help. It is used but in very good condition, ANIB. Cycles smoothly without a round in chamber. Didn't check with a round in the chamber.

What is a good price?
Anything I should watch out for?
Any parts to replace or add?
Reputation of gun?
Any personal experience, likes, dislikes?

Thanks for the help.

There are after market sights that are far better than the ones that come on it or a scope if so inclined. All in all a fine close in rifle.

One change: put a new heavy-recoil pad on it. The gun is fairly light, and hot .44 mags hurt after a very few rounds.

Love mine, but haven't been able to shoot it for a while, for the above reason.

I have one and I love it, I had to slick up the action a bit though. I also put on wild west guns ghost ring sight kit and a limbsaver recoil pad. Now I can shoot it comfortably all day.
