I've been wanting a .357 lever action rifle for some time. I have all the AR's and hunting rifles I need, but the "hole" in my collection was a rifle chambered for a pistol cartridge. In other words a "fun gun". My wife is also a shooter and, somehow, picked up on this desire. I had said NOTHING about it~Nothing! The phone just rang a few minutes ago and cut me off fron the 'net. It was my wife and, out of the blue, she goes..."I'm going to buy you a new "Marlin 1894C" for our 25th anniversary. I know you've been wanting the "1894CP" but it's ported, and I think it would be louder, and I don't want to take a chance on the hearing in your one and only ear that works. The 1894C is only two inches longer and is NOT ported, so I think that would be best...don't you"?
~DON'T I?????~ What a question! Wow! How do they figure these things out??? The ONLY person I told was my gun shop owner. The sneaky woman must go to the gun shop on her own~~WITHOUT ME!! :)
I feel like going out on the front porch and yelling "REEE HAAAWW" as Skunkabilly would say.(Or yell!) Can you tell I'm happy about this?? Can you?!? :D :D :p

Awesome. Maybe you'll already be so deaf on your 50th anniversary that she'll go ahead and spring for something ported.

Being deaf is the only way ANYBODY makes it to their 50th anniversary. :D

Congrats on the rifle. This is the same one that my wife bought me for a birthday present around 16 years ago, though mine is old enough to be pre-lawyered. You'll love this rifle. It's a great fun caliber.

Doggonit, KR, that very gun has been obsessing my every waking hour, and here some angel swoops down from above and just HANDS you the dang thing! Color me intensely envious, and I hope you'll at least console us with glowing reports of all the FUN you have with it (dang ya')!

Guys, I've been walking around with my jaw on the floor ever since she called!!
She calls me on the TELEPHONE (!) and tells me she going to give me the very rifle I've been thinking about as an anniversary gift!?! 25 year anniversary.
I have to come up with something GOOD for her! Think, think, think! I can't help it. All I can think about is the rifle!

KR:p

Boy, KR, you're right; you're really on the spot now. I hope you've been paying as close attention to her wistful musings as she obviously has to yours!

You know what? The other night as I was walking past her, I heard her tell someone on the phone that she wanted a new Walther P22. HUMmmmm. A new P22 and custom holster would make a nice gift, wouldn't it? C'mon ladies! I need some help here!

Dumb Ol' KR:what:

For your protection, talk to her best friend. Tell the friend your just a stupid guy and you need help to pick the right gift(s). You can almost always get women to do things if they think they know more than you do. :uhoh:

If we could all be so LUCKY! I borrowed a friend's 1894C once - it was a pure pleasure to shoot and the accuracy surprised me shooting Hornady 158 XTP and Winchester 158 JHP. It is on my "to buy one day" list as well!

UPDATE~

I had a dozen orange roses sent to her office. (She loved them.)
I bought her a new P22. (She loved it.)
I bought her a new Benchmade/Mel Pardue clip-on with titanium liners and sort of a blue & black "swirl" design on the scales. Very sharp! (She loved it.)
I bought her a Ron Graham custom holster for her new P22. (She loved it.)
I bought her a ring with white & yellow gold kinda twisted together--you'd have to see it. Get "the meaning"? :) (She loved it.)
And lastly, I bought her a new PALight with the "always on" feature. (She loved it.)
Most importantly:SHE LOVES ME! :p

Good going, KR.

Congrats on the '94, but way more for having someone who cares so much about you, and obviously treasures your relationship.

Best, (how ya been, man?)

Pretty good John...Thanks for asking. Right now I'm trying to stave off another clot in my leg. Being up with Nancy, and then watching over her for over 70 hours with no sleep made my leg start to swell again...but I couldn't leave her after her surgery. I just couldn't. I'll be fine in a couple of days. PLUS...SHE is FINE! And THAT is the MAIN THING!
