My brother does not own a rifle, and I would like to sell him my 1894c. They camp in the mountains quite a bit, but his wife has never really been fond of guns. She has, however, consented to him getting a pistol caliber rifle.

I have had it about 6 months, and the rifle has less than 200 rounds through it. It is in excellent shape.

Now, I want to give my brother a good price. I would like to give it to him, but from a financial standpoint, I need to get a little something in return.

Do you think $250 would be a good price? Or $200?

Regards,

Why not just give it to him? He can pay you back some other way later, and you'll have the satisfaction of having provided a rifle to a family member who needed one. As long as he understand that gift guns can never be sold, anyways.:D

That 1894C is a nice rifle.

First question is can you legally give him a gun? If so, is he a responsible person?

If you sell the gun...does he have to register it? Do you have to go through a dealer?

That said..I bought my 1894C for $250. I don't think it had more then a few hundred rounds through it. Heck of a nice rifle!

Unless you are strapped for cash I think it would make an excellent birthday/Christmas gift. I've given revolvers as gifts to family in the past and I know they are enjoyed much more since they were gifts.

But $250 is a fair price.

Stinger,
Nice gun and nice gesture. Obviously you can use the cash or you would have given the gun to your brother. I bet a lot of people have been in the same situation. $250 is a very good price. Hope your brother understands that you wish you could give it to him.
