CB Cap pump is another Gun I really didn’t need, but using CB Caps, I figured it would be perfect for dispatching urban backyard rats/mice that raid my Sunflower seed bird feeders (I’ve long since achieved a “live-and-let-love peace w/the Squirrels... The tang sight is a Marbles Simplex. This little 2 year production (1909-1910) is just the ticket for thinning out the rodent herd.

Any of you have one of these diminutive little rifles?

Welcome to the forum, and the Mods will move this over to the Rifle thread. I'm curious, how many rounds does the magazine hold?

Action, as you can imagine for this old 100+ year old rifle is “buttery smooth!”

Been sitting on my Urban back porch pondering a quiet way to rid myself of Sunflower seed-snacking rodents and using my Marlin 25S 22 Short/CB Cap 1909-1910 pump rifle more than COVID permits. F6537AAC-90AB-4A63-B6D6-710306E15B77.jpeg My pellet rifles are still rather noisy in the quiet night. No luck finding BB Caps...Shorts are too loud...decided to make my own...LABOR INTENSIVE!, but still in the learning curve. Pulled the bullet from 10 22 Shorts, dumped the powder, shaved the skirt (slightly) off of some 22 pellets, seated pellets into the sans powder 22 Short Cases. NO NOISE! Both of the 2 examples went thru both sides of a H-D plastic bucket at 15’ at that distance, point of aim! Rats, WATCH OUT!

Do you think I could do this (no powder loads) using 22lr in a 10/22? Cycling by hand?

I'd love one!
Alas, “kleanbore,” I’m keeping mine. My dad gave me an old 22 Short autoloader as a kid, and the devil he had finding the exact same Make/Model for my 4 year younger Brother...He had to do the same thing, “to a T” for all kids...

Be careful with the no powder rounds. They can and will stick in the bore and you will ring your barrel. I know because I did it. The Colbri box says not to use them in rifle barrels and they ain't kidding. Most times they work but it only taks=es one to have a major screw up. And the longer the barrel the sooner it will happen.

Thanx! ThomasT! I’m very aware and check for “hits.” So far 15+ no powder loads fired w/no issues. So far, refining POA w/Shoot-N-See targets on a H-D orange bucket.

Since I have to shave the pellet skirt slightly before seating in the 22 Short Case, pellet is slightly undersized.

OK thats good. Just be careful with the Colibri rounds. Especially in longer barrels. Out of my 24" barreled model 39A they came out so slow I think I could have thrown them faster. The shorter barrel of my 10/22 they worked fair. The Super Colbri were the best. It would be ashamed to mess the barrel on your old classic Marlin pump. There aren't many of those around anymore.

I used to kill a lot of Squirrels in my backyard with my Benjimen pump 22 and 4-5 pumps of air. That was more than enough to drop tree rats and no one in my house could hear me shooting. Between that gun and an old Remington bolt with 22" barrel loaded with CB22s I killed over 200 squirrels in the yard. My pecan tree was a squirrel magnet.

Yup! Tho, I’ve reached a “live-and-let-live” peace w/the Squirrels after watching them navigate a “way too much time” on his COVID sequestered engineer-mind elaborate maze, YouTube video that he constructed in his Urban back yard...SMART little S^*TS!!

I hadn't heard of this Marlin rifle before, but I have a feeling it was introduced as a direct competitor to Remington's M12 'Gallery Special' for the shooting gallery trade: https://www.rockislandauction.com/d...n-model-12-gallery-special-slide-action-rifle

Neat rifle Andy!
Dave DeLaLurant, Thanx! I only paid $325 for mine. The barrel had been Gunsmith re-lined, so bore is excellent, tho collector’s value is diminished. I bought it because it was just COOL! As earlier stated, only 2 year production -1909-1910.
