To keep it simple what is the value of a marlin 336 rc in .35 rem, with a cheapo 4x scope, minor rust I can proabaly remove, scratched wood, a cracked but plate, and unremovable rust around the muzzle. Plus side, action is smooth been fired once. If I sold it to a gun shop what could I get, its my friends and he said if its worth less than 150 bucks I can have it for 50, I'd keep it just to have a lever (no cheap plinkin ammo thoguh so it would sit there for about two years till I get a real job, and then ill make it my deer gun).

I doubt you would get $150 for it from A gun shop. that doesn't mean it is not worth more than that. Pics would help. Many would jump on it for $150.

... $149.00...(just tryin' to help:p)...seriously, a clean one goes for $350+...with what you have to do to make it ready...$50 would be a good price...unless the barrel's bent...you can do the work yourself and have a good deer rifle...I'd grab it...

sorry no pics it's in his house right now. Figured it would be around those prices. Right now I'm trying to convince him to sell it and buy a nagant or something with the money, so as of now it's either new gun for me or new range buddy, both would be happy outcomes.

Pay him the $150. With A little work you will be way ahead. Post that gun on marlin owners for $150. It will be gone in no time.

I once knew a guy that paid almost a grand for a racing pigeon, so what counts is what it's worth to you. But I'd probably buy it. Especially if you will have the time to pretty it up before you need it.
