marlin 39-a

I just acquired a 39-a with serial # 1672 this gun has no bulls eye on the stock but has sling swivel's. can ayone help with the date of manufacture for this gun? There is no letter prefix to the serial number.

I'm thinking it is pre 1940 it has no letter prefix and just 1672

That would put it at the first model made in 1939. Post some pics I'm sure everyone would love to see a first year 39a.
