I am considering purchasing a Marlin .45 Colt but can't seem to find any ammo that is specifically for a rifle. Is the ammo for the handguns acceptable for the rifles as well?
There are several .45 cartridges available. The one you are looking for is most often called .45 colt or .45 long colt. Yes it is also a pistol cartridge. Do some homework on buying ammo because this round is a bit spendy.
Think reloader... if you plan to shoot a lot.
Maybe you know... use flat tip bullets in a rifle with a tube magazine.
Hornaday makes a bullet with a pointed plastic tip that is safe also.
That Hornady Leverevolution ammo pictured above is really great and developed for .45 carbines model 94, marlin 336 ect...
and yes all .45 colt ammo is interchangable between rifle and pistol.
