Marlin 60 question

Ok so for the first time at my range trip the other day I tried using round nose rounds in my Marlin modle 60, normally I use rem bulk pack HP's.

These were still remington, just round nose. They fed fine, accuracy was really good.....problem was the tube mag. When I went to close the tube mag it was giving a lot of resistence. Ran more HP's through to no issue.

Any ideas?

It may be that the more pointed bullets of the solid tip design allows the bullets to stack more wobbly or crooked shall we say. It may be that the HP design bullets stack straighter or more in line. Try stacking HP bullets on top of one another on your desk vs. solid tip and you will see what I mean. This may cause you to feel more resistance while inserting tube since it would be "feeling" the rims and adding resistance of the rims as it travels down the tube. It is of no concern I believe.

edit: after re reading your post are you saying that closing the tube to lock position seems to have more resistance? if so maybe it is the slight increase of overall length per each round added up is attributing to more pressure required to close so in turn try one less round in the tube.

Ditto, I have that problem with the Colibei SSS in my 60. You just have to wiggle the tube mag follower as you slide it in the loaded tube. I almost shoot the SSS solely on my land as it is quieter than a pelet gun and way more deadly on rodents which is what I eradicate with it. So I have gotton very good at reloads with it een though it does what you stated.
