OK, another similar thread got me to thinking about this and I didn't want to hijack his thread, so......

What say you all on using round nose .44 mag or .44 spl lead rounds in my Rossi or Marlin tube fed lever gun?

I guess it depends on what you'd be using them for.
I've never owned a Rossi, but my Marlin 1894 has no problems handling the round nose .44 mag
I prefer them because they give me great accuracy, never had a single feed problem out of the tube and packs a greater punch. And I can generally get them a tad cheaper then the lead nosed .44 spls, at least by me.

While not a plinking gun by most people's standards, I do plenty of 'plinking' with it from time to time and that's about the only time I'll use the .44 spl.
Pros for the .44 spl are they're subsonic & have a lot less kick and saves the mild shoulder ache after a few dozen shots.

Cons are that they're shorter than the mags (I think about .125" shorter cases than the mags, that seems to be the number tossed around, I've never measured it) and that has given me some feed problems from time to time. Not a lot, but enough compared to zero issues with the mags to be noticeable. One time I had to disassemble the rifle just to fix the jam up, but that was, I hope, an isolated incident.

I would think the same in my Browning 1892 --- if a round nose fed well, OK -- as I would with the .357 magnum carbines. I don't recall ever seeing any such rounds at a store.... maybe some UMC lead rounds with no jacket. I stopped using those not because they didn't feed, but because they were incredibly inaccurate and left the action filled with lead powder which was a pain to clean out.
