Greetings,

Does anyone have any experience with this rifle? COuld you tell me your opinion of it? Do you know if it will feed .22 CBs form the magazine tube?

Thank you!

I've got the OLD Sears version of this gun.
It was my Dad's .22, and I finally got it after 43 years. He died in 1975 and I hadn't seen the thing since I was 6!
Research revealed it was a Marlin model 81.
It's basically the same gun as the one you're inquiring about.

I believe these rifles are to shoot .22 Short; Long; or Long Rifle ammunition ONLY.
I don't know if the smaller ammo will work or not.
I don't want to try to shoot the wrong ammo and have it gum up the works somehow.

I bought one last summer. I love it. Its a solid little gun, and feeds anything you put in the tube. Mine's ate about 200 CB longs, 100 mini mags, and 50 remington subsonics HP's. Never a problem of any kind. Just wish I had more time to shoot it.
Its as accurate as I can shoot too. I haven't done anything from a bench with it, but on a good day shooting off hand with the iron sights I've gotten roughly half inch groups with the CCI mini mags at around 25 yards.

The CB longs are accurate out to about 10 yards for me, beyond that groups start opening up. Your still inside about 4 inches from 30 yards easily and they're not keyholing or anything. Might just be my shooting too ;)
I've read that CB shorts are a little more consistent. The gun should feed them fine, its supposed to feed shorts, longs and long rifles. I haven't tried them though.

I haven't done any modifications on it yet, but I've read that you can replace one of the springs on the trigger to make the pull alot lighter. I may do that just to see how much affect it has. Right now it breaks clean, and isn't any heavier than most of the other guns I shoot.
I'm really happy with it.

I have one I got used, and am quite happy with it. It's a good, solid, simple little gun. It shoots well and, like Redneck, it's as accurate as I shoot.

I've probably put 700 rounds through it so far, and not one malfunction of any kind. It feeds el cheapo Wal-Mart bulk hollow points easily. You know, the 500 rounds for ten bucks stuff.
