I think your tinfoil hat is on a little too tight. Or you tried to make a tinfoil balaclava and accidentally cut off your oxygen supply. Or your computer is lagging and this was supposed to have gone out on April 1.

Marlin isn't closing its doors.

George Soros doesn't own Cerberus Capital Management. He isn't affiliated with them in any way.

Take a deep breath. Get off of infowars. etc. etc. etc.

Matt

Sheesh, this was going around almost a decade ago when Marlin was bought by the Freedom Group. They did close down the Marlin factory in CT, but they are still cranking out guns at their new homes in NY and KY.
This doesn't even make sense if you think about it for two seconds. Nobody is going to spend millions (billions?) buying a company just to shut it down. If there were some big conspiracy, why would they shut down a company whose top selling products are lever action hunting rifles and .22's? Freedom group also controls Bushmaster, DPMS, Remington and several other big players in the MSR business. There is plenty of criticism for Freedom Group, but none of it has to do with government conspiracies or George Soros.

From the NRA:

Recently, an old rumor regarding Cerberus — the private equity firm that owns Freedom group, a holding company that in turn owns a number of firearms manufacturers, including Remington, Marlin, Bushmaster, and DPMS — was in some way tied to George Soros.

This rumor is completely false and baseless.

NRA has had contact with officials from Cerberus and Freedom Group for some time. The owners and investors involved are strong supporters of the Second Amendment and are avid hunters and shooters.

In reality, at no time has George Soros ever been a part of the ownership group of Freedom Group or Cerberus, and as a privately traded corporation, there is no possibility that he will be in the future.

This unsubstantiated rumor has caused a great deal of unnecessary concern for gun owners. NRA-ILA urges our members to take great care before repeating baseless rumors found on the Internet.

Ok. So I remove the original post. I had not heard the information in the past as I haven't spent much time on these message boards like some others. Back to my regular scheduled job.......

Marlin was moved to the big Remington Plant in Ilion NY. It took a while get them back to what they used to be or better. Old equipment, sabotaged before shipment. They are better now. Grandfather and uncle retired from the plant, a close friend works there now. They were recently hiring.

The word from my gunsmith and my gunshop guy is stay away from Marlin since Rem has screwed them up. Go with Henry or Winchester (Browning).
