"Madison, NC - April 7, 2008 - - Remington Arms Company, Inc. ("Remington"), the United States' largest firearms manufacturer, today announced a strategic manufacturing consolidation move that will result in the closure of its Gardner, Massachusetts plant ("Gardner")."

Surely this isn't what it looks like?

It looks like Remington is closing a plant (not Marlin). Marlin and Remington recently merged, but Marlin has only one plant in North Haven, CT.

H&R

The Gardner plant is for H&R. They will be relocated to Illion. I believe the main Marlin plant is in North Haven, CT.

I had heard this nasty rumor at a gun shop this weekend. They (like myself) failed to confirm that the Marlin plant is indeed located in North Haven CT.

Yep, it's the H&R plant that is closing, not Marlin. I hope Remington doesn't discontinue the H&R line of firearms. I really like the H&R/NEF Handi Rifles.

I pray to a merciful God that H&R/NEF doesn't shut down!

What is Remington thinking? Are they trying to replace NEF handirifles and shotguns with their Russian and China junk?

Are you guys actually listening? There's nothing sad about it (except for the people of Gardner, MA) - NEF production will continue in Ilion, NY. Sucks for the Gardner economy however.

I got worried when I saw the headline. I enjoy driving past the Marlin plant when I venture into New Haven.
