A friend has a Marlin lever-action .410. He wants to go hunting with it, but to do so he will need to block the magazine so it holds only 2 rounds. He just called and asked me how to do it. I don't have the gun in front of me, but I have to think there's a way (probably an easy way) to block the magazine. Anyone know how? I did quite a bit of searching on-line, but didn't find anything (several references to doing this with the Winchester 9410, but nothing about putting a plug in the Marlin magazine). If you know how to do this, please let us know.

Thanks

Doug

It's built on the 336 frame (.30-30) so it should have a screw and a cap on the front of the magazine you take out. WATCH OUT FOR THE MAGAZINE SPRING!

Cut and put a wooden dowel (3/8" diameter or so) down the center of the mag spring. He'll have to experiment with the length.

Marlin probably sells a plug for it and will give him an owners manual.

He'll have to experiment with the length.

If the mag tube holds 4 then cut the dowel to 1/2" shorter than the length of two shells. This should give enough room to not hinder the loading/feeding of two rounds and will not allow a third to go any more than 1/2" into the mag.
