Hey yall. I grew up shooting and admiring Semi-Automatic Model 60's....and it fired faster than any rifle I had ever shot. Oh I read all about military weapons....but for a South Georgia country boy, the Model 60 possessed the most fire-power I had ever seen in a rifle. Now as an adult, I admire the 60 even more. I now own both of the 60's I grew up with, an '85 Model 60 that belonged to my dad (passed down to me) and a '93 Model belonging to my grandad, who basically has no use for it anymore. Both are basic Model 60s, blued steel and wood furniture. For the past couple years now I have been pining over what I considered the ultimate 60....a stainless steel version. Well, anyways, I go didly boppin into Wally-World Monday mornin to check out the Mossberg 702 Plinkster; low and behold, there sit in the rack a SS Model 60. So here I am, truck payment for November paid, with $200 bucks and $38.50 from my Mason change jar to spare and a Marlin Model 60SB in the rack. Needless to say I went back and bought it today. I am astonished at the quality that Marlin still puts into these rifles....and how beautiful the 60SB is. The Stainless finish looks awesome mated with the wood stock....I couldnt ask for anything more....range test will follow tomorrow.

A little secret hides beneath the stain. That's a laminate stock.

My blue version is amazingly accurate.

Marlin didn't get the memo that said that new guns are supposed to be inferior to older ones. They still build them well, and for a good price, too.

Congrats on your new rifle. Have fun!

I loved my Marlin Model 60 when I was a growing up.I was like Ralphie from the Christmas story when he got his Red Ryder, except I didn't almost shoot my eye out and I also had taken my hunter and firearm safety course a few months earlier. Many a Squirrel and Crow meet their end with my M60(as I called it).
