I have a Marlin Coast to Coast Model 42 (70). It has untold thousands of rounds through it. Over the last few range sessions, I've had multiple failure to fire that have steadily increased and this past weekend it barely shot at all. When I got home I thoroughly stripped and cleaned the rifle. The bolt was cruddy and the extractors were thick with residue, I cleaned all of it.
Has anyone taken one of these rifles down before? Is it beneficial to change out the springs, firing pin and buffer while its apart? It's been dry fired a few more time than it probably should have. It wasn't too hard to take this down, but I'd like to know if the juice is worth the squeeze and replace the aforementioned parts before I put this back together again. Thanks!
