All righty, now...
I'm interested in buying a new Marlin XT-22MTW. This is a bolt action, tube fed, .22 magnum rifle.
My very first firearm I purchased was a Marlin 783...an older version of the XT-22MTW. It was stolen, and I replaced it with their 22LR version; but I'd like to buy another .22 magnum. I had put untold thousands of rounds through that rifle before it was stolen and it was impressively accurate and powerful.
However, the XT-22MTW has a new trigger mechanism...the Pro-Fire Adjustable Trigger. And bugger all if I can find one darn review online that seems to be an objective review of its function and performance. Every single review I've found was nothing more than a parroting of what Marlin has to say about it.
I don't really have any concerns with the adjustable feature of the trigger. I'm far more concerned with the integral safety built into the trigger. Specifically, how it feels, any potential reliability issues, and whether or not it's a feature that is "in the background"...meaning it doesn't take any getting used to over a conventional rifle trigger and is, essentially, unnoticable during practical use.
Anybody out there have any real life experience with the Pro-Fire?
