While at the range today, I noticed a fellow shooting what appeared to be a very compact Marlin 30-30 lever gun. I asked him about it, and he said it was a Marlin Model TK. I'd really like to pick up one of these rifles. Anyone have any experience with them, or know what they are worth?

Cfriesen;

My "Guntrader's Guide" does not list that model for Marlin. I can't think of another manufacturer with that designation either. However, could it have been a Marlin TDS? That's a straight-stocked 16" barrel .22 rimfire levergun by Marlin.

CFriesen;

I sure can't find it in Guntrader's Guide, but that sure isn't the definitive source either. Try Fjestad's Blue Book, if it isn't in there, better go to a Marlin collecter's board.

Am in possesion of Marlin Mod 30 TK. Straight stock, 18 (or 18.5) in barrel, half mag tube. It appears to be the economy version of Marlin's "Texan"

The Marlin "TK" was the version they made for K-mart. I have one and think it's the best 336 "clone" they ever made.

Marlin Model 30 tk

I too have a "tk". Excellent shooting rifle. 18 in barrel, 4 round tube mag, birch stock. Yes it was sold at K-Mart for one year to my understanding?
I weather proofed mine with automotive paint and three coats of clear (wood only).
