I need any information that all you experts can give, I have a Marlin 1987 357 mag 1894 (no C ) but on the receiver there is a stamp (JM) in a circle.18" barrel, holds 10-shells. It was called a saddle Gun, Any imput will help. Thank you all. Ed

That is the Marlin proof mark used on all Marlins manufactured prior to the Remington takeover in 2010.stamp (JM) in a circle.
JM stands for John Marlin, the founder of the company.
Other then that, you know about as much about it as I do if you know it was made in 1987, and has an 18" barrel..
I believe the correct name Marlin used was Saddle Ring Carbine, not saddle gun.
