I just purchased a Martin Camp 9 from the original owner who only fired it about 10 times to sight the scope in. It has no wear markings showing on any of the parts. Its the model where you have to push the charging handle in to lock the bolt back. I disassembled it and replaced the recoil buffer with a new aftermarket recoil buffer and the recoil spring with a Wolff 16.5 lb spring. Everything seems to work correctly except when you place an empty magazine in the gun the bolt will not lock to the rear. I tried placing a round in the clip and cycling it thru manually but it still will not lock in the open position. According to what I have been able to find it should automatically lock when the magazine is empty. Plus the stock 12 round magazine releases but does not "pop" out. Am I missing something???

I don't remember if mine held the bolt open when I had it. That may very well depend on the follower of the magazine. See if it is tripping the bolt hold open with an empty mag cycling by hand.

As far as mags dropping free, there is a magazine disconnect on these guns. It will not fire without a mag inserted. There is a spring loaded lever inside the magazine well that does this. That lever pushes against the mag with enough force to hold it in the magwell if it is empty. I removed that lever from mine and the mags then dropped free.
