3 more days to make a difference, everyone

One of our MSI Executive Members writes:

*********************
Earlier this week I had left 1 email, 1 poll response (which had a volunteer section) and one phone message for Senator Nancy Jacobs
campaign. I stated that I was from MSI and that I wanted to volunteer at the polls for Senator Jacobs to thank her for her support during
the last session in Annapolis.

I got a call today from the camapign HQ. I was expecting a staffer, but it was Senator Jacobs herself. I told her that I lived in Carroll
County and was not a constituent, but that our races in my District were all but assured and I could give her my time.

She was saying that her 2nd Amendment strongholds were in Northern Harford County and in Cecil County when I interrrupted her. I told her
that I didn't want to talk to people about the 2nd Amendment at the polls, I just wanted to do whatever I could to support her and wave
her signs. My help was not about my immediate agenda, it was about hers - reelection. I asked her where she was short staffed and what
time she needed me.

She was almost speechless. When she found her voice, she was clearly surprised. I told her that I wanted to help her because of her past
support for gun rights, not because I expected her future support. Again, it took her some time to form words.

To say that she was bubbly and overflowing with gratitude doesn't capture the moment.

We talked for a little while and agreed on a time and place for me to help.

If any of you had any doubts about what helping directly in a campaign does to get you noticed, it should be clear now.

Your help can be as little as donating an hour of your time. It won't cost you much, but if you let them know the reason you are helping is because you appreciate their standing up for our gun rights the effect can be immense.

If those in your District don't need help (running unopposed, a pro-gun against a pro-gun, an anti-gun against an anti-gun, etc.) then look to other Districts. Here's the really short list of people to help:

Governor: Bob Ehrlich (MSI Endorsed) vs. Martin O'Malley (Brady Endorsed)

Attorney General: Scott Rolle (MSI Endorsed) vs. Doug Gansler (Brady Endorsed0

Comptroller: Anne McCarthy (MSI Endorsed) vs. Peter Franchot (rabid anti-gun guy)

Delegates in District 03A: Patrick Hogan & Linda Naylor (MSI Endorsed) vs. Galen Clagget & Sue Hecht (strongly anti-gun)
contact Patrick Hogan at 301-682-8840 and Linda Naylor at 301-371-3112 [email protected]

Senator in District 07: Andy Harris (MSI Endorsed) vs. Patricia Foerster (anti-gun)
contact Senator Harris at 410-666-9898 [email protected]

Senator in District 13: Sandy Schrader (MSI Endorsed) vs. James Robey (Brady Endorsed)
contact Senator Schrader at 301-490-8217 [email protected]

Senator in District 19: Mike Ryman (MSI Endorsed) vs. Mike Lenett (Brady Endorsed)
contact candidate Ryman at 301-570-5316

Senator in District 21: John Giannetti (MSI Endorsed) vs. Jim Rosapepe (Brady Endorsed)
to help Senator Giannetti contact Beverly Brown at 443-286-1519 or [email protected]

The above races are all "twofers" in that these are good pro-gun, pro-self-defense candidates running against anti-gun (mostly Brady Organization endorsed!) candidates. So in each of these above races a win for the pro-gun candidate also keeps out a strongly anti-gun candidate ... two birds with one stone.

Rolle and McCarthy are behind in the polls might not win even with help. The rest are eminently winnable, and extremely important. We need a couple more Senator seats for a pro-gun majority. We cannot afford to lose any Senate seat. We can't afford to have Brady Endorsed candidates making our laws.

Probably the biggest need for help now for these campaigns will be as poll watchers on Tuesday, but please call now and see what it is that they can use help with. When push comes to shove in the next few legislative sessions you'll be really glad you did.
