Do you want an Assault Weapons Ban?
...one that adds an additional an additional 45 banned guns to the previous Maryland Assault Weapons Ban?

Well, you're in luck! Ceasefire Maryland, and the Brady Organization are pushing hard for just such a ban. All you have to do is sit back and do nothing, and it's sure to happen. Senator John Giannetti, who blocked the AWB in committee the last two years has lost in the Primary. He was our best defense against an AWB. He's gone. He lost by less than 2000 votes. A few hundred dollars in donations and/or another handful of volunteers could have made the difference and saved him, but now he's gone and we're more vulnerable than ever.

There is no sure block to an AWB left. A majority of the House and Senate could vote for an AWB. Gov. Ehrlich’s veto could be overridden. The AG could support it. Governor O'Malley would gladly sign an Assault Weapons Ban.

Our best and maybe only chance to stop the Ceasefire and Brady Organization's push for an AWB will be in the November elections.
We must have not just one, but at least two or three things:
1) a governor who will veto an AWB -- this means Ehrlich must win, and in the Primary election O'Malley got TWICE as many votes as Ehrlich did. For Ehrlich to win will take WORK on our part.
2) an override-proof body -- a majority in the Senate or House.
3) a pro-gun Attorney General – Scott Rolle is the only option and he’s way behind.

Learn who is running in your District and is pro-gun. Donate to them. Work for them. Get a yard sign and put it up. Get a bumper sticker and put it on your car. Get involved.

If there is no one running who is pro-gun in your District then find another District that needs your help -- there are lots of pro-gun candidates who desperately need help. Do it now, before it's too late. There is not that much time left before the November elections.
Do this and we can save our gun rights here in Maryland.... or sit back and do nothing and you can kiss your guns goodbye. It’s up to you.

Register to vote. Vote your freedom. You may not get another chance.

I'm not sure I can roll my sleeves up any further or work any harder.

And I'm flat out broke now, with my last $50 contribution to the Dwyer campaign.

Anybody wanna' fill in while I take a week off?

Wow...I didn't know the situation in Maryland was that dire? The entire defense against a ban rested on one politician?

Godspeed Maryland.

Eh, it's not for certain, but the elements are there. The Senate president can rearrange the Judiciary committee such that Giannetti's vote isn't missed as much, but the House might have enough votes to get the AWB out of committee. It didn't last year, and I'm not sure they have enough votes this year either, but we won't know until the general election.

But the state AG and Gub are likely to be pro-AWB.

Saving up for that last second AR15 purchase. We need to make it clear that the threat of the ban only means more of these lawfully obtained firearms in private hands.

Like most things in politics, it's not that simple.

Giannnetti was an important part of the Judicial Committee where all gun related bills are heard before going to the floor. Dwyer is on the same committee in the other branch of the General Assembly.

The point that we're trying to make is that if more gun owners here would get up from their keyboards, stop worrying about what uber-tactical gimmick they're going to blow some money on and get out there and actually DO something, either financially of actively, we'd be in a lot better shape than we are.

silverbird,

That's great! We can also use your help BEFORE then. We're preaching to the choir here. If we want to win, we have to convince those on the other side to change their votes to those we want to be elected.
