Effort To Ease Gun Application Backlog Causes New Controversy
The run on guns in Maryland before Oct 1 is creating privacy issues, the problems (according to the story) is that state employees from other agencies and departments are assisting with the applications.
You think that is bad...it gets worse....People are trying to get their firearms now because on Oct 1 they will have to be fingerprinted. (Like NJ does with their residents who wish to purchase firearms).
In addition to the fingerprinting they will have to get lessons before being able to buy a firearm and there will be firearms restrictions. Sounds like Maryland is trying to compete with NY State as who will be more draconian on gun owners come October 1 .
I don't think any state requires people to get lessons just to buy firearms. Maryland might be the first in the nation....and a damned shame that law abiding gun owners have to face this nonsense.

“They’ll know your house, they’ll know your criminal background, they’ll know other weapons that you own,”
"As of October 1, Marylanders who purchase guns will be fingerprinted and required to take lessons. Restrictions on types of weapons also take effect."
