Harford County? Heck that's almost the free part of the state compared to where we are down in Central MD.

You've got Elk neck right in your back yard.....I'd never get any work done at home if I lived that close.

I will be living in Harford County. I was stationed in Md when I was in the Army. I am looking forward to getting actively involved in MRKBA.
Well godblessya, we need ya. Welcome back to the Old Line State. I spent the better part of today at a gun show in Upper Marlboro, I'll have some thoughts on that that I'll post up on PGP tomorrow...too tired tonight.

But here's a teaser that'll drive Quinter and the rest of the gun-grabbers nuts: I got an ATF agent manning the show to admit, and I quote, that "criminals are going to get guns no matter what we do." Curse me for not having a tape recorder. :D

HB-1163, the bill to remove the “good and substantial” clause from the carry concealed handgun permit process. This will remedy the current discriminatory issue process that favors the wealthy and politically connected without regards to the right of self-defense of the general law-abiding populace. This will make Maryland a “shall-issue” state and bring our process into alignment with that of 38 states. In states where shall-issue legislation has been passed, it is well-documented that the crime rate has universally declined. With Maryland’s violent crime rate at the top of the charts in nearly every category, this legislation is one that is long past due.

Can someone clarify the changes that HB-1163 makes to the current laws? From reading the unofficial copy of the bill it appears that it still includes a requirement for "good and substantial reason" to carry. I am referring to page 2, line 10 of the bill.

[brackets] = being removed

If you read through para.(5), you will see several brackets around the offending text. This indicates that the existing law is being modified by redacting whatever is in the brackets.

Additions seem to be in bold . . . :)

Edited to add:

Oh, yeah: calls made on the MSI-listed bills. . . . . :)

It is great that it seems every year we seem to be doing better and better. What was it, 2 or 3 years ago that we all showed up to fight the AWB that we all thought would pass, and we somehow won. Last year the AWB got nowhere and carry came closer to happening than ever before. This year looks to be even better.

As for March 8th I would love to be there (I didn't make it last year due to work) but it is doubtful. The schedule at work has been made for March 8th for quite some time. While I do now work 2 12 hour days and 2 8 hour days every week giving me an extra day off, they usually give me Thursday as the extra day. I'll have to double check the schedule that week, but most likely I'll be working. Now, if I'm doing the 7am-330pm shift I may try show up but coming from Towson it would be around 5pm by the time I made it and I'm guessing everything would be about finished. I'm wondering if it would be a bad idea to call in sick so I could be there :evil: (actually, not a very good option- since it is a psych hospital it needs to be staffed, if I'm evening shift I can sometimes be the only person there in my position and there is rarely more than one more, and so they may force someone to work a double if I call in).

If any of your Delegates for your District are on the Judiciary Committee and have not cosponsored please write, call or email them and ask them to support our pro-self-defense bills:

I'll be calling, but I doubt very much it will do very good. I'm in the 13th district (hint: my Delegate is Quinter :barf: ). Still, might be funny to hear the reaction of his staff if I call asking that he co-sponsor the CCW bill.

I Welcome the old line state with wide open arms because the laws keep me safe from myself:D and If I drove an 18 wheeler that means I get to put the gun all the way in the back of the trailer.:D Anyhoo Md is a great place to be.

Well, I definately won't be there tomorrow. I am scheduled to work 3-1130pm, and it won't be possible to call in "sick" because they decided to schedule a mandatory meeting from 130-230pm. :(

Give them heck for me guys.
