Senator Robert Garagiola's efforts to get a favorable vote on SB 288
Assault Weapons Ban of 2004 in his own committee have failed.

Now Senator Garagiola is attempting to circumvent the committee
system by playing musical chairs with phony bills in the hope that
some committee will give at least one bill a favorable report. Once
that bill hits the Senate floor, he will try to add SB 288 as an
amendment.

This tactic not only makes a mockery of the committee system, it
shows Senator Garagiola's utter contempt and lack of respect for the
members of his own committee, his committee chairman, as well as the
committee system as a whole.

The first hurdle is the Senate Rules Committee which due to the late
filing of SB 925 & SB 927, must decide whether or not to allow the
bills to move to committee.

Many of the members of the Senate Rules Committee also serve on
either the Budget and Taxation Committee or the Education, Health and
Environmental Affairs Committee. They need to hear from you today!
Tell them to reject SB 925 and SB 927.
