Maryland shoot, Nov. 1st, 7pm

Maryland Shall Issue, Anne Arundel county is having their monthly shoot on November 1st at 7pm at On Target in Severn. All THR'ers are welcome to come out and shoot with us! Check out the link on my sig line if you want more info on Maryland Shall Issue.

I am not sure if I will be there or not since I'm supposed to be taking it easy and not shooting. ANApex might make an appearance though.

On a side note, we found out that I am having another boy! That will make 3 boys under the age of 5 in our house! ANApex is already working on what kind of gun to buy him. :neener:
 
I'll probably be there.....look for the 6'7" guy with the goatee. Don't confuse me with DelayedReaction, who would be the 6'9" guy without the goatee.

You got it.....pistol calibers only but that can include carbines and rimfire rifles.

Anybody got anything they've been hankering to try out, now's the time to speak up.

This is great - I've been shooting an average of twice a week for the last few weeks!

I'll see if the brother in law wants to come. The dork bought a Taurus .38 and has only shot it once.....
 
Calendar permitting, I'll be (hopefully) there with a couple of 1911A1's, my old trusty .38, and an M1 Carbine (which one, I'm not sure yet). Looking forward to this - it looks to be be only about 30-mins from me. YAY!

You might want to give them a call on that M1 carbine.....I'm pretty sure that they stick to "pistol calibers" only.
 
Will do, but if it's the range I'm thinking of, I've been there - 'bout 6 or so years ago (wife reminded me). I recall that .30 Carbine was the max caliber allowed, but could be wrong.

I'll call in the AM to make sure. Thanks.

Thanks for the clarification.....never could remember where the .30 carbine fell in the spectrum of calibers
 
Ended up just being me and SuperReverb. Place wasn't very busy in general.

I ended up doing about 150 rounds through each of the MkII, USP9 and 1911.

Best part was getting to shoot SuperReverb's excellent M1 Carbine. That things is going to cost me money because now I want one :D
 
I wish I had been aware of the monthly shoot. I've been meaning to get down to On Target anyhow to shoot the 10/22 I bought a few weeks back. Unfortunately I let my membership there lapse recently.

BTW, if On Target is a pretty nice range, as someone in this thread remarked, then I'd hate to see one that's not pretty nice. :D Has anyone here tried Select Fire in Glen Burnie? I haven't, but a co-worker of mine had good things to say about it. Maybe 'cause they let you rent full-auto tommy's.

On Target's as good as any here in MD. The help can be a little hit or miss but once you learn who to deal with there you find that most of them are pretty good folks.

I'm not a big Select Fire fan. The full auto thing is OK if you can put up with the perpetually pissed off camo clad dude looking at everything you do on his little bank of TV cameras and jumping on you for any little thing that bothers him. Or there's the scrawny uber tactical guy proclaiming that anything other than a SIG is a waste of time and how when he clears houses :)rolleyes: ) he has a preferred method to do so. What I DO like about the place are the concrete barriers between the firing points......a little extra precaution against the careless folks.

We've been trying to do a get together once a month at On Target or at an outdoor location when the whether gets warmer. Hope you can come out to DuClaw and hang with us.

Unless something comes up, I'll definitely be there on Dec 8th. I'd really like to meet some locals who share my interest in guns and shooting, even if I am a relative newbie to this stuff.

As for On Target, I actually think it's OK. I don't have any other experience with indoor ranges. I shot at On Target with a .22 bullseye league last year, so I suppose I was there around 30 times total. Other than sometimes-glitchy target return equipment, and the fact that someone with a .44 magnum always seems to be in the next lane :D, I've had a lot of fun there. My main beef with On Target is that its gun prices seem significantly higher than most shops I've seen.

Where do you guys shoot outdoors? Through a gun club at work I can get a range badge at Marriotsville via the Associated Gun Clubs of Baltimore. I had one last year, and I plan on getting one that will be valid starting Jan 1 2006.
 
Only two outdoor ranges we frequent are Hap Baker at the Carroll County Landfill in Westminster, or Elk Neck State Forest just outside of the town of North East, Md whch is......you guessed it - in northeastern MD.


I like Elk Neck MUCH better than Hap Baker now......
 
northeast is definately my favorite spot to shoot. can hit the pistol range, trap field and rifle range all for $10... for the whole day.

on target is ok, but the ventilation system could use some help.

i really like NRA HQ, except for the drive
