Hey, don't be diss'n Crocs!

My "normal" gunshow garb is a loud Aloha shirt, a pair of shorts and lime green Crocs.

Matt Hughes has every right to be proud - he was an incredible athlete. Personally I think he stayed in the sport too long, training and fighting injured for too long.

I am surprised he hasn't tried to cross-over to main-stream TV - he has enough personality to be a semi-regular guest on either a drama or comedy. I suppose being a regular person, not being ashamed of his gun collection etc probably stands in the way...

He has a very cool and down to earth collection and though he may be a bit aloof, he doesn't set a poor example as a role model and certainly isn't getting arrested like Rampage Jackson.

I've never gotten the whole "ultimate fighting" thing. Just seems like gratuitous violence for the sake of violence
Perhaps you need to use a better operating definition of "violence". After every single MMA fight I have seen, both fighters walk away. I've seen a few clips online where there is injury (broken shin etc.) and heard of 1 athlete dying, but it couldn't be attributed to the fight. MMA has the appearance of violence without the substance (hence the excitement...yet lack of real injuries). That's why people watch it. It's exciting...and everybody walks away at the end. You get to see who is best without the guilt (and moral problems) associated with watching, say, a gladiatorial fight to the death.

In contrast...blowing a .40 cal hole through someone's heart and lung...that's violence. Injuring another human being so that body parts don't function (anymore, ever) is violence.

MMA is just a sport where people hit each other and get cuts and bruises. Firearms are great tools for violence.

He beats people up for a living and you expect Mr. Nice Guy?

Heh, you'd be surprised. A lot of fighters are the nicest, most humble people around. Especially the good ones. Watch a fight and watch when it ends. They generally are very respectful of each other, humble, friendly, congratulating each other, etc..

Dope

1) He is openly promoting firearms and the 2nd amendment. I'm not sure other pro athletes would allow such a look into their life and hobby. If an NFL or NBA star did this, he would probably come under criticism by the media- ...

...because he's probably a felon.
