Any Mauser .22RF Training guru’s here. I posted this info over on rimfirecentral as well but am not receiving the responses I thought I would. So I thought I’d ask here, maybe someone knowledgeable can help.
On another impulse I purchased what I think is an interesting rifle. It looks like a Mauser 98 training rifle. It is a single shot, standard turn bolt action, with few markings.
On the left side of the receiver is “Mauser Werke AG, Oberndorf a./N". There is what I presume to be a serial number on both the barrel and receiver, it is "1478##" The barrel has standard open sights with the rear being a standard military type adjustable out to 200M. The hood is missing from the front sight.
There is also a "D.R.P. D.R.G.M." marked on the rifle and the barrel is marked with "Patrone (which I know means catridge) .22 Long Rifle"
Lastly on the rear of the barrel just in front of the reciver is the stamped number "459". Also on the top front of the receiver is a standard "Mauser" stamp in a rectangle. Overall condition is good to very good. There was some minor surface rust on the barrel but it cleaned up nicely. There is any pitting on the metal. The bore looks tobe in excellent condition.
Any ideas on what exactly this rifle is? Is it a ES340B, single shot variant of 340?? I can not find much info about these guns. Anyone know what a ES340, "B" action is? I understand the "B" action is not as common as whatever the other action is. But I do not know how to tell which action I have.
Any help is appreciated.
Here are a few pictures of the actual rifle I got.
Regards and Thanks,
Rob
