Sight unseen, I'd spend the extra $40 and get an excellent condition rifle. I've seen enough 'Very Good Condition' rifles to believe that it means it has a barrel that can run the gamit from bent, bulged, heavily pitted, to straight and new looking in Century speak.
I had been wondering if one of these would be worthwhile. By the time I added a can of ammo and brick of subsonic 22 and shipping, I'll be lucky to get by this cheap.
I am sure all our mileage varies, but I have done better with gunsmith specials and clearance items from Aim than with my special selection orders. They're all used and that's part of the intrigue. When I pay a handpick fee I have unrealistic expectations and am disappointed. I was tickled with my $80 #4 mk1, so will see what shows up this time. A true collector would fork over the extra bucks, but I'm just enjoying bottom feeding.

I don't doubt your experience, but I have bought quite a few rifles from AIM, including the one posted in this thread, and have never had them exaggerate the condition of their goods. I think they're quite a reputable company.
I bought an unissued SKS from AIM and was highly satisfied. I paid the handpick fee, and the gun they sent me looked brand new. I also bought a WASR from them, and was satisfied. I'd order from them again (if I thought my wife wouldn't shoot me for ordering another gun).
I've asked this question before, but somehow I'm still confused. My goal is to get ONE and ONLY one rifle to represent GERMANY in my WW2 rifle collection. Should I get the this gun (24/27) or the K-98 advertised right now at SOG, or another one?
I concur with TimRB's assessment of Aim. I've had nothing but good luck with anything from them. But I really wish you guys hadn't made me look at the deal. I kinda have the same problem with my wife that Lonestar has. I've been hinting around about April 15 as buy-a-gun day but I don't think it is working. The shooter grade SKS is also hard to pass up.
If you want WWII German, you want a K 98. The M 24/47 and M 48 are NOT WWII German issue. There are also dimensional differences between the German rifle and the Yugo rifles. Get a K 98 from Dennis at Empire Arms or one of the other vendors for your representative German WWII rifle.
I tried to resist, I really did. As I was sitting at the computer paying bills, I kinda came here, saw this thread, went to AIM's site, checked out the Yugo Mauser special and.....I couldn't help myself. I just bought one. Should be here in ten days or so.
I better get the second safe in here quick. No more room for guns.
