Mauser Extractor Fitting?

I put a new extractor on my Israeli K98. Works great without rounds. Picks up and extract rounds great. Chambering and locking is hard on about half the rounds tried.
I am assuming I need to reduce the claw a bit but that the front foot, near the bolt head is fine.
Does that sound correct, and is there a special way to do this job?

Is this a military extractor? Does it have the bevel on the front? Are you feeding rounds from the magazine, or directly dropped into the chamber?
