Im trying to replace the firing pin on my K.Kale Turk Mauser.

I already have removed the pin assembly from the bolt. Easy... every video and tutorial i see says that to remove the pin, i just need to compress the spring by pushing down on the shroud, and turning the cocking piece 90 degrees. It looks so easy...

But no matter how i may try, the cocking piece will not lift free of the pin. It turns 360 degrees and will not lift free. It just spins in place neither unscrewing nor pulling off.

Any ideas? I have never gotten to shoot this rifle, and it would sure be nice to get that pin swaped out.

Sounds like there's burr in one of the cuts. Rotate it the specified 90° and pull really hard as you twist the cocking piece.

I remember having this same problem on a particular Mauser. In retrospect, I seem the remember the firing pin and cocking piece as fitting very close. In other words, everything had to line up just perfectly.
Hang in there, you'll get it.

use eye protection and wear some heavy gloves so that you can maintain a firm grip on everything. Don't pound on anything. Go to Mauser Central (I think that is the site) and watch the tutorials there on bolt disassembly and firing pin removal.

I had already watched every video and tutorial, playing many of them back many times. I understand how the process is supposed to go...

I finally did get the cocking piece off. I had to lock it in my bench vice and coax it off with a 6oz hammer. Multiple burs on the threads, and what looks to be 70 years of fossilized crud were the culprits.
