Hi guys,

I'm new to this forum so thanks for letting me jump in.

I picked up a beautiful Mauser HSc today in mint condition. The problem is I'm not sure what I have.

The serial number is in the 711XXX range and has an eagle on both sides of the trigger guards. Under one of the eagles there is an "L".

Could someone help me with details about this particular weapon, please?

I appreciate it.

The Mauser HSc came out in 1939 and was produced by Mauser at least
until 1946 and later in France (and perhaps elsewhere) under licence into
the 1950s. The HSc was not derived from Mauser's earlier pocket pistols. It
was a totally new design, being more streamlined in appearance. Its quality
is considered to be inferior to the 1910s and 1914s but still good. It was
chambered for 7.65mm (.32). HSc serial numbers started at 700,000 and ran
to around 951,000.

Those HSc Mausers in the 745,338-781,415 serial number range that
were marked with the Eagle/135, about 4,000 in all, had the high-polish
blue finish of earlier commercial models and are among the most prised by
collectors. Later military models, marked with the Eagle/135 Waffenamt
(801,145-885,126 serial number range; about 31,000 made), were left
unpolished before blueing and show machining marks.
BTW, my HSc is in the 756XXX range & is in a .32acp....I can't think of a better small-caliber weapon....I take mine out for firing about every couple of months...I also will alternate this & the PPK with one in the pocket mostly in the summer...Please show a pic....Many have never seen the art-deco piece that has stood the test of time...
P.S. Welcome to the forum....Don't forget a pic!!!

Hi, and welcome. It should be a .32 or .380 ACP, blowback design, DA, 7+1 capacity. Here are some links to Mauser Hsc information:

If you don't have one, there also is an online manual for the pistol. Is it stamped Interarms on the right-hand side of the slide? I suspect the L indicates it was a police gun made from 1940-45, but the second link above will help with that.

The following info was taken from recguns.com, article by A. Winthrop:

NOTE: Quote from A. Winthrop deleted: already contained in Mad's post above; he was a bit quicker on the draw than me!

I have a .380 HSc, Interarms version. It's a bit small for my hand and the hammer wants to pinch. Yours would appear to be an early model. A search for "mauser hsc" will turn up a lot. Have fun...

Thank you

Hey guys,

Thanks for the info on my HSc. I can't take a picture right now, no digital camera, but will try to get one later.

Love my little weapon.
