Gentlemen, I am currently sportertizing my own Turkish Mauser. I have drilled and tapped the reciever, installed the new trigger, and bent the bolt. Now I find that my scope won't mount due to the rear sight. I have 1" standard low mount Redfield rings. My questions now are:
How do I remove the front and rear sights? My front sight does not seem to be drift adjustable so I don't believe there is a set screw.
The rear sight has a screw in the front that I have removed with the upper handguard. Should there be another screw under the leaf spring of the flip up rear sight?
The rear sight has a pin that it swivels up and down for elevation. I cannot seem to drift the pin out for the life of me. Is it not supposed to come out?
Lastly, if I remove the sights, will the area of metal underneath be to rough to clean up for when I refinish? If it will look ugly I might have to forgo all of this and get some higher rings and leave the sights on. Any help appreciated.

They are soldered on. Heat (But not to hot) rotate with pliers and drift toward the muzzle. This is coming to you via something I have researched, but not done........

Thank you Gun Guy, that is the same thing I had researched, but what I read had stated that the front sight had a screw holding it to the barrel that needed removing before the heat was applied.

There may be a screw in the sight BASE under the front sight. The sight is dovetailed into the base. Drift it out to check for the screw. Then sweat the bases off.
