Rebuilding a 1916 Mauser

Most of the front sights on military Mauser's are in two pieces: the body for the front sight (the tubular piece that's soldered to the barrel) and the sight it's self (which is dovetailed into the sight body). If you take a drift punch and hammer and lightly drift the sight blade sideways out of its dovetail, this will expose the screw that's holding the sight body to the barrel. The screw is generally used to hold the sight body in the correct position while it's being soldered on. In simpler terms; the screw that's preventing the front sight removal is located underneath the sight blade.
