A certain online store has a "Maverick" brand 308 cal with a scope for $250 plus shipping

I haven't heard of this brand and it's probably total crap but does anyone have opitions or experience with this brand and hopefully this rifle?

I'm looking for a bolt action 308 as I want to use the same ammo as my semi-auto rifle. I'm looking for something with better accuracy than the semi-auto which is probably close to 1.5 MOA. I was sniffing around the savage 10FP's but the ball and chain has me on a strict gun budget. I started looking at used 308's about a month ago but haven't run across a screamer deal yet.

I found this deal and if the rifle isn't total junk, I figure I could always get some use out of it and sell it in a couple years.

Thanks in advance.
Bill.

Maverick and Mossberg are joined at the hip. Not sure how but barrels switch out between shotguns. I suspect the rifle you are looking at is this:

yes that's the one. I had read Maverick and Mossberg shared something in common. The quality/where it's made/accuracy/value of the scope/rings are a mystery to me.

Maverick is a Mossberg brand name. It'll do nicely. MSRP is $564 and up for a package(scope included). Don't know what make of scope. It'll be servicable, but low end, just like Savage package scopes are. They don't currently make one in .308 though. That's not a big deal. $250 with a scope isn't ugly. Very hard to beat that price. Shipping won't be horrible either, but if it's out of your State, it'll have to go to an FFL holder. Most of them charge a nominal fee.
"...I want to use the same ammo as my semi-auto rifle..." Same cartridge, yes, but you'll have to either work up a load or try a box of as many brands as you can to find the ammo it shoots best. If you're reloading and want to use the same brass in both rifles, you'll have to full length resize when loading for one or the other. Not a big deal. Semi's require FL resizing everytime anyway. Been doing it for eons myself.
